Library Policies

Loan Period and Renewals

Library books are due 7 days after checkout. If you have not finished reading a book, you may renew it by bringing it to the library for scanning. Books with more than two holds placed on them are not eligible for renewal and must be returned by the due date.

Library Book Checkout Limits

Students may check out the following number of books at one time:

  • 1st Grade: 1 book
  • 2nd–5th Grade: 2 books

Book Return/Exchange Books

Students who forget to bring their library books or are absent on their scheduled library day may return their books the following day and check out new materials at that time. Students may also visit the library during recess to return or exchange books.

Overdue Books

Students with overdue library books may not checkout additional items until the overdue materials are returned. If a book cannot be located, parents or guardians should contact the library technician to discuss replacement or payment options. Once the item is returned or arrangements have been made, students may checkout library books again.

Fines

There are no fines for overdue library books. A notice will be sent home when a book is more than one week overdue. The notice will include the replacement cost of the book in the event it has been lost.

If the overdue book is returned, no payment is required, and checkout will resume.

Lost or Damaged Books

Lost or damaged books must be paid for in accordance with the Library Agreement.

The current textbook policy fine schedule will be applied to damaged library materials:
